PALE ALE & SALT WATER TAFFY

This pairing may sound a little odd, but don’t knock it ’till you try it. The subtle briny saltiness of the taffy matches perfectly with an American Pale Ale. I chose the Maritime Pacific dry hopped Islander Pale because it’s brewed about ten minutes from my house, and it embodies everything a good Washington pale should be. “Brewed in the Northwest with imagination”-as it says on the label-the Islander Pale is assertively hopped with a bold grapefruity finish, but is well balanced with a mellow caramel maltiness. Hoppy, but drinkable. Just what I want in a beer. Any local Pale Ale will work, just pick one that you like. The Neopolitan taffy, and the Watermelon are my personal faves with the pale.
