Extra Special / Strong Bitter (ESB) | 5.60% ABV

A light tan one finger head slowly settles to a thick cap. The beer is a hazy copper hue.

Some fresh lemon-grapefruit hops stick out in front, white toasty grains sit in the background, giving off a little burnt caramel.

The malts are toasty and slightly sweet, but much tamer than in the aroma. The hops add a sharp bitterness, with some tea-like qualities, very herbal, not as citrus-like as the aroma. Full bodied, high carbonation.

An okay ESB, although I would prefer the version from England. This one had a good amount of hops, with a decent amount of malts, but not enough balance in my opinion.

Pairing Suggestions: Fish & chips, kebabs, mac & cheese, meatloaf, roasted chicken or pork.

beer + food = Barleydine
